The following message contains important information from Jones Senior High School. All Juniors will take the A.C.T. test on March 7th. Tuesday our varsity baseball team plays away. Thursday night, there is a parent prom committee meeting. Friday night our varsity baseball and softball teams play at home.The H.O.S.A. blood drive will be held during the day March 14th. Spring curriculum night will take place Thursday, March 23rd. Come join us to learn more about what our students are doing at school. There will be report card pick up, student led curriculum activities, our very own Jones Senior band, and free food. The Junior/Senior prom will be held on April 22nd. As a reminder, food from restaurants/fast food places cannot be brought to students for lunch. Students may bring food from home for lunch, but it must come with them when they arrive. The following message contains important information from Jones Senior High School. Tomorrow our Building the MATH Code for all JSHS students grades 6-8starts and runs through March 3, Monday through Friday, from 3:00pm-4:30pm. Also tomorrow, our varsity boys basketball team plays in the first round of the playoffs at Ocracoke. We also have our Senior Countdown to College and CCP Parent night at 6:00pm in the cafeteria, meals will be provided. CCP night for all students interested in taking college courses through LCC. In conjunction with Jones County Public Schools, the Jones County Sheriff's Office conducted a random search of the school’s campus today to locate and deter the use of illegal substances. Students and staff were sheltered in place to prepare for the school-wide search. Highly-trained and non-aggressive canine units and their deputies searched the facility and the parking lot for contraband. We are pleased to report that no illegal substances were identified on our campus during this operation.
Canine-assisted contraband sweeps help ensure the safety of students and staff with minimal disruption to the learning environment. The primary purpose of this program is to deter students from bringing illegal substances to school; however, it also serves as a minimally invasive way to keep students and staff safe.
As always, the safety of our students is at the forefront of all that we do daily. We will continue to do all we can to make Jones Senior High School a safe and orderly learning environment for all students to reach their fullest potential.

Also on Tuesday, the varsity boys basketball team plays home at 5:30. The girls team will travel to Pamlico. All Jones Senior High School students in grades six through twelve must be checked out in person by an approved guardian as listed in Power School. We do not accept phone calls, notes, or emails for early checkout. Extenuating circumstances require principal approval.

Attached to the report cards is the updated attendance requirements for JSHS. For high school students receiving an "FF'', there is information for scheduling an appeal conference. For middle school students with excessive absences there is information attached for scheduling an attendance conference. Any high and middle school with excessive absences are in danger of failure for those courses.
