Friday, September 1, Jones County Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay. We look forward to students and staff returning to school on Friday. Students may be drop offed at 9:30am. Students should report to second period, which start at 10:00am.
Due to the potential of severe weather associated with Hurricane Idalia, Jones County Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, August 31st for students and staff. On Friday, September 1, Jones County Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay. Please stay safe and we look forward to students and staff returning to school on Friday. Students that have paid their fees and have a signed Acceptable Use Policy will receive their student issued iPad in first period tomorrow August 30th. Students were given paper copies of the acceptable use policy today for parents to sign. Parents please sign and return with your students tomorrow. If parents signed the electronic version we have a record of that already. If fees have not been paid, students should pay their third period teacher the $50. Vacancy Announcement
The JV and Varsity volleyball teams will be playing away at Eastern Christian Homeschool today. Spectators will need to bring their own chairs. Admission is $5. JV game starts at 4 PM. The address for the gym is:

The following message contains important information from Jones Senior High School. Hello, this is Dr. Parker, principal of Jones Senior, we are excited to welcome our students back tomorrow morning. Car riders are allowed to enter the building at 7:30, except students that drive. Middle school car riders should report to Mrs. Judkins room and high school students should report to Ms. Gordon's room. They will remain there until breakfast at 7:55. Middle school students will get breakfast on the 500 wing and high school students will receive theirs in the cafeteria. Students are considered late at 8:10, but as this is the first week of school, grace will be offered until routines are learned. Bus riders and parents please allow 5-10 minutes before or after your scheduled pickup/dropoff times. The first week of the school year always brings unforeseen or unavoidable challenges, but we will persevere through them as best we can. As of today, all students should be able to view your schedule in PowerSchool. Please understand that our class options are very limited. A photo of our Master Schedule is included in the Schedule Change Request Form so that you can see your options.
When you complete the form, please answer all questions, including the replacement class for the one you are requesting to drop. Unfortunately, some classes are already full and we may not be able to complete your request. We will consider every request that is submitted via the Schedule Change Request Form. Email requests or questions will not be considered. Once you submit the form, you will not be able to edit your response and you will not be able to submit the form a second time.
Remember, Schedule Pickup is tonight, August 22, from 3:00pm-6:00pm. Anyone taking CCP courses, late arrival/early release, or any potential Early Graduates should plan to stop by to complete your paperwork.
Open House is Thursday, August 24, from 3:00pm-6:00pm. You will be able to meet your teachers, update proof of residency, pay school fees, parking passes, etc, at this time.
Schedules will be FINAL on the first day of school, which is Monday, August 28. Our new school day times are 8:25am - 3:25pm, with student drop-off beginning at 7:55am.

Please know that students in grades 9-12 will only have 3 days to request changes to your schedule for the 23-24 school year. Schedules will be accessible in PowerSchool on Tuesday, August 22. Schedule pickup will be from 3:00pm - 6:00pm and paperwork will be available for anyone interested in Late Arrival/Early Release and Early Graduates. A digital schedule change request form will be shared; requests should not be emailed. The form must be completed no later than the end of Open House on Thursday, August 24. Counselors will work to make changes after Open House and schedules will be FINAL on the first day of school. Schedule change requests made after August 24 will not be considered. Jones Senior High School has a Home Varsity Football game tomorrow night at 7:00 PM. gates were open at 6 PM. Tickets are eight dollars and athletic passes will be on sale for adult yearly pass $125, student pass $50, family pass $350, and fall pass $75. Attention parents for any students wishing to take CCP classes in the fall or spring. A mandatory student & family meeting will be Tuesday, August 8, at 6:00pm in the cafeteria. This includes students planning to take any Culinary classes this fall. All CCP students will have the opportunity to review their schedules and finalize required paperwork, including late arrival/early release requests. We look forward to seeing you then.
Monica Ruffin
Assistant Principal of Jones Senior High School
Ms. Monica Ruffin holds twelve years of experience as a classroom teacher and curriculum specialist. For the past two years, Ms. Ruffin has served as an Assistant Principal at a K-8 school. Her educational background involves an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from North Carolina Central University and a master's degree from East Carolina University in Elementary Education. Ms. Ruffin also obtained a K-12 Principal's License from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Ms. Ruffin was selected to participate in the NC Future Ready Leader 22-23 cohort with other assistant principals across the state of NC.
