As part of our ongoing commitment to the safety and efficiency of our school dismissal procedures, we would like to remind all parents and guardians about the importance of using the designated car rider line for student pickup. In recent weeks, we have noticed an increase in the number of parents using the parking lot for student pickup. While we understand that this may seem convenient at times, it poses several safety concerns for both our students and staff.
To ensure the safety of everyone on our school premises, we kindly request that you use the designated car rider line for student pickup. Our staff will be present to assist with directing traffic and ensuring a smooth process. Please pull forward as far as possible to pick up your child. The expectation is that all students will wait outside by the cafeteria entrance for you to pull forward and pick them up. We will load 4 cars at a time. Ensuring the safest and quickest car rider pick up.
This helps prevent traffic congestion, reduces the risk of accidents, and ensures a more efficient dismissal process. By adhering to these guidelines, you play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and efficiency of our dismissal procedures. The safety of our students is our top priority, and your support in following these guidelines is essential. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school office at (252) 448-2451. Take care!

Good afternoon Parents/Guardians, this message is to inform you that the driver of bus 131 is out today. The students will be riding a different bus this afternoon. So expect them to be home later than usual. Estimated time will be maybe 30 minutes or longer than their usual arrival time. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you and have a good day.

A threat on social media was intercepted, and due to the nature of the threat, the school administration and the Jones County Sheriff’s Office felt a more visible presence would be warranted on campus today. The Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with other agencies, conducted interviews and determined that Jones County Public Schools were never the subject of a threat.
We did however feel that additional law enforcement presence would comfort and reassure our students, parents, and faculty that we will always take precautions when it comes to the safety and security of our schools.
