JCPS’s senior staff, JSHS's staff, and the Jones County Sheriff’s Department received a tip of a potential threat on the campus on May 10th. The school system and sheriff's office worked together to conduct a search of the campus and students’ belongings prior to students entering the building. To ensure the safety of every student and staff member, every student was searched, and no threat was found. We encourage you to check in with your students regarding their emotional well-being. The school system and sheriffs office worked together to provide officers and staff to conduct a search of the campus and students’ belongings prior to students entering the building. Every student was searched and no threat was found.

Good afternoon, Out of an abundance of caution Trenton Elementary and Jones Senior High School entered a lockdown at about 12:20 p.m. today. A security sweep by the Jones County Sherriff's Department determined that there was no threat on our campus, and the lockdown was lifted. We will always respond to all situations with the safety of our students and our staff at the forefront of all that we do. Thank you!
