AFJROTC

On Wednesday, December 1st, 2021, a group of Jones Senior AFJROTC cadets and JSHS staff are participating in our inaugural Bataan Death March Memorial Hike. This hike will occur at Jones Senior High School.  Approximately 66,000 Filipinos and 10,000 American military forces surrendered to the Japanese on the Bataan Peninsula during World War II. After capture, the enemy forced these soldiers to march 65 miles to a prison camp. As a result, thousands of American and Filipino service members perished. The cadets of Jones Senior will honor the memory of the military troops forced to march to a prison camp.

The cadets will begin their march at 8 am and walk a designated trail around the school for the 14-mile journey. They will have water breaks along the way, and we will celebrate their accomplishment with food at the end of the march. Those Cadets that complete the entire 14 miles earn a ribbon to wear proudly on their uniforms.

Our mission this year is to develop and establish a strong foundation for our first JSHS Air Force JROTC Raiders Team. We invite your donations to support these cadets as they work to become the best Air Force JROTC Raider Team in North Carolina. Fundraising is vital to the survival of our program.

If you are interested in pledging or donating, please see an AFJROTC cadet or contact Major (retired) Kelly McCann at 252-448-2451 ext. 248 or kelly.mccann@jonesnc.net.
